Plantasia offers a wide range of activities and events all year round. Many of these have limited capacities so book early to avoid disappointment.

Wild Winter Fun at Plantasia

Discover, interact, and play between Christmas and New Year!

Step into our award-winning indoor tropical zoo this festive season and explore over 40 amazing species!

From 27th Dec – 4th Jan (closed 1st Jan), join our Jingle Bugs Keeper Talks every hour from 11am–2pm to learn about the Christmas connections and curious cultural stories of our animals, with chances for a few lucky visitors to hold or interact at selected stations.

Animals featured on the keeper talks include

  • Ugandan Flower Beetle
  • Crested Gecko
  • Tarantula
  • Snake
  • Millipede
  • Egyptian Tortoise
  • Beaded Lizard
  • Meerkats

Plus, enjoy daily VIP Zookeeper Experiences (age 6+) at 10am and VIP Animal Encounters (age 2+) from 3pm, or challenge the whole family with our Jungle Escape room games — a wild adventure for kids aged 12+.

There’s so much to see, do, and experience this festive break at Plantasia Tropical Zoo!

Wallace: The forgotten evolutionist

A celebration of ALFRED RUSSEL WALLACE:

Wallace was many things – an intrepid explorer, a brilliant naturalist, a social activist, a political commentator – overall a remarkable intellectual. In his time he collected over 125,000 animal specimens, published more than 800 articles and wrote 22 books

Plantasia Tropical Zoo’s treehouse has been transformed into a fabulous representation of Alfred Russel Wallace’s jungle research hut in the Amazon Rainforest. Featuring storyboards with fascinating tales of his life and discoveries, explorer artefacts and a dress-up area.

Access to the exhibition is included with General Admission Please be aware that access will be restricted weekdays between 10am-2pm when in use by school groups

PLANTASIA IN BLOOM 2026

Our annual recycling focused competition for schools and community groups

Plantasia in Bloom is our annual recycling focused competition for schools and community groups.

Participants gather together items that can be recycled, and turn them into beautiful blooms which will be displayed around our zoo, for their chance to win the following titles 💮

Overall Best School or Group 🏆 Recognition for outstanding collective effort across multiple classes / entries.

Best in Bloom🏆Celebrating individual bloom excellence.

Time: 10 am – 5 pm (Last entry at 4 pm)

As a visitor during the May school holidays, you will be able to enjoy discovering these creative blooms on your journey around our zoo.

You’ll also be given a voting slip to help choose the winner for the overall Best School or Group category.

🌿 Over 5,000 visitors explore Plantasia Tropical Zoo during this period, making it an inspiring and high-profile showcase for creativity and sustainability.

NAS Swansea Quiet Hour

Regular Autism Quiet Hours in partnership with the National Autistic Society Swansea

We are honoured to work with NAS Swansea on a regular basis to deliver suitable Quiet Hour events at Plantasia Tropical Zoo.

NAS Swansea Branch is a volunteer-led charity supporting autistic people and their families in and around Swansea. They organise different events and activities for autistic people and their families / carers which are run across the area and include coffee mornings, autism courses and workshops, understanding autism talks for businesses, organisations and charities, all-year-round autism events, and much more.
