Happy New Year from Plantasia Tropical Zoo!

As the calendar turns to 2025, all of us at Plantasia Tropical Zoo, Swansea’s favourite indoor attraction, are excited to welcome you back for another year of magical, wild adventures. Whether you’ve visited us before or are planning your first trip, we’ve got plenty in store to make your experience unforgettable.

A Look Back at 2024

Looking for fun things to do with the kids in Swansea? This past year at Plantasia Tropical Zoo has been one to remember. We introduced our thrilling Giants of the Past installation, where visitors discovered the life-sized replicas of prehistoric creatures like Titanoboa and Sarcosuchus Imperator alongside their living modern relatives. Enhanced with AR technology provided by Magic Memories, this installation allows visitors to bring the giants to life on their mobile devices, making it a truly interactive and unforgettable experience. This unique blend of history, technology, and conservation was a roaring success, and it’s still here for you to enjoy!

We also welcomed Charlotte, our Goliath Birdeater Tarantula, who has settled beautifully into her habitat. She’s been growing in size and confidence, offering visitors a chance to marvel at one of nature’s most fascinating creatures. Don’t forget to say hello to her on your next visit!

Oscar, our Green Iguana, enjoyed a big extension to his habitat, where he’s now sharing space with Jack and Sally, the Red-footed Tortoises. The trio have settled in wonderfully, making full use of the extra space and enjoying the expanded views.

We also expanded our Magic Memories photo kiosk experience. You can still download you fun photos to your devices for free, but now there’s the option to purchase printed photobooks too! These make a fantastic keepsake, complete with fascinating facts about our zoo and its animals, and are available to collect in the gift shop.

What’s New for 2025?

Please remember we’ll be closed for annual maintenance from 8th to 10th January as we tidy up the trees and add a fresh sparkle to the zoo’s surroundings.

We’re excited to introduce six tiny dart frogs, now living in a brand-new habitat within the Grow Your Imagination Education Room. Make sure to take a moment to find all six during your visit!

This year, we’re launching new annual memberships to replace our previous passes. With tiered options, these memberships give you more flexibility and fantastic value for money. Find out more about the benefits and purchase your membership here: Annual Memberships.

Our special events calendar is bursting with excitement! We’re kicking off the year with the return of Dinomania in January, followed by a further three thrilling sessions spread throughout the year. We’re also continuing our collaboration with Glass Slipper Events, and will shortly be adding seven princess-themed events to the What’s On page. Look out for new favourites like Moana, tying in with the new movie release, and a pop-star party! Of course, much-loved classics like Cinderella and Frozen will also be making a magical return.

We’ve updated our Top Trumps experience this year. The giant cards were installed last year, but in 2025 we’re adding a new Giant Top Trumps trail and a design-your-own Top Trumps activity sheet for £1 per child. This includes a pencil and a certificate for completing the trail. To align with our commitment to sustainability, we’ve replaced plastic medals with paper certificates, printed on recycled paper.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to bring you even more enriching experiences, making Plantasia a top choice for indoor activities and family fun in Swansea. Our educational workshops continue to inspire young minds, and we’re introducing fresh activities for students and families. Keep an eye out for our special events, which will be announced via our social media channels, and remember that our zoo is the ideal place to learn, relax, and connect with nature.
